Fox Acquires Roku

Fox is buying Roku.

Roku's business model is actually genius. They created a competitor to the smart TV, and they did it better. Once they slowly became ubiquitous with all lower-end TVs, they started their own streaming service as an app inside their own software. Now that streaming service is the primary reason Fox is acquiring them. Such a power play.

If someone has a physical product that promotes the same company's software, they have less of a reason to go out of their way to use a competitor's. Roku slowly built up their TV empire one piece at a time, and nobody was paying attention.

Whoever has been steering the ship with Roku is brilliant.
